Treasurer, Josh Frydenberg spoke of the Government's fiscal strategy to return the Budget to surplus, for the first time in ten years. He also detailed tax relief measures for low-middle income earners, in an economic climate where the housing market is softening (new dwelling investment down 5.5 per cent in 2019); grazers and the nation are responding to the impact of droughts, fires and floods, and housing prices could fall between 10-16 per cent, adversely impacting consumer confidence.
